Call 999, rescue truck loaded with snatched cows
Highway police have recovered a truck loaded with cattle snatched from a 999 call in Comilla. Mirpur Highway Outpost Police seized the truck along with 15 cows from Madhabpur area of Comilla-Sylhet Highway late on Monday night.
Earlier, a group of robbers snatched the truck from Daudkandi area on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. At that time, Highway Police Superintendent of Comilla Nazrul Islam ordered to search two highways in the district. The hijacked truck was recovered.
Highway Police Daudkandi Police Station OC Sarkar Abdullah Al Mamun and Mirpur outpost in-charge inspector Abdur Rob said a cattle trader named Didar Mia was going to Chittagong from Bogra on Monday night with a truck loaded with cattle for sale at Korbani Hat. When they reached Shahidnagar area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway, a group of robbers snatched the truck loaded with cows with the connivance of the driver-helper.
At that time, Didar Mia, a cattle trader, called the National Emergency Service 999. On hearing the news, Highway Comilla Superintendent of Police Nazrul Islam directed all highway police stations and outposts in the district to seize the truck. At the same time, the police of Mirpur Highway outpost started searching vehicles in Madhabpur area of Comilla-Sylhet highway.
At that time, the robbers and the driver-helper fled leaving the snatched truck on the road after seeing the police check post. On Tuesday afternoon, Didar, the owner of the cattle, was handed over a cow worth around Tk 3 million.
