The programs in which the Prime Minister will participate in New York


On September 19, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave London for New York on a special Bangladesh Biman flight after attending the funeral ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey. The Prime Minister will be welcomed at the John F Kennedy International Airport by the Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States, Muhammad Imran, and the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations, Muhammad Abdul Muhith.



On September 20, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the reception organized by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the opening ceremony of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.


The Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with UNHCR's Filippo Grandi and Slovenian President Barut Pahor. On the same day, she will also join the UNGA Platform of Women Leaders. The Prime Minister will also attend a reception hosted by US President Joe Biden at the end of the day.


On September 21, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend a program on high-level sustainable housing organized jointly by Bangladesh, Botswana, Slovak Republic and UN Habitat. On the same day he will hold a bilateral meeting with WEF Executive Director Professor Schwab Klaus and attend the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRC) Champions Meeting. In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will visit the photo exhibition of the Padma Bridge at the United Nations headquarters. Then he is the president of Kosovo. Vjosa will hold bilateral meetings with Osmani-Sadriu, Ecuadorian President Guillermo Laso Mendoza and Rabab Fatima.


The Prime Minister will begin the day on September 22 with a breakfast meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and a courtesy call on IOM Director General Antonio Vittorino and a high-level roundtable with the US-Bangladesh Business Council. He will later hold bilateral meetings with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Paydei Teko Hun Sen and ICC Prosecutors Nick Clegg and Karim Khan.


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is unable to participate in the high-level meeting titled 'Transforming Education Summit (TES)' to be held on September 19. The Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the high-level meeting of the UNGA Women Leaders Platform on September 20. The experience of women leadership in crisis management, the best practices adopted and their success in crisis management play an important role in solving various global crises. For this purpose, the initiative of the President of the 76th United Nations General Assembly Women Leaders Platform has been taken. In this meeting, the Prime Minister can share her experience in dealing with the crisis and highlight the steps taken by the government under her leadership to ensure proper representation of women in the decision-making process.


The Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG) High Level Meeting on Champions Meeting will be held on 21 September. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is one of the six champions in this high-level group. Representatives of G-7, G-20 etc. organizations will also be present in the meeting.


A high-level meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) will be held on 22 September. The Prime Minister will participate in the meeting as co-chair.


Notably, the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister of Barbados are co-chairs of the 'One Health Global Leaders Group on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)' organized by the World Health Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Organization for Animal Health.


On September 23, the Prime Minister will address the General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly. Like every time, the Prime Minister will give a speech in Bengali. In his speech, he is expected to highlight the government's activities to develop Bangladesh's incredible economic development, health, education and technology sectors.


The Prime Minister is expected to participate in several bilateral meetings as usual. President of Kosovo, President of Ecuador, President of Slovenia, Prime Minister of Cambodia, United Nations Secretary General, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court of the International Organization for Migration, Executive Director of the World Economic Forum are expected to participate in bilateral meetings and discuss various issues of mutual interest.


As always, the Prime Minister will participate in a round table meeting organized by the business community of the United States. In this meeting, Bangladeshi businessmen will present the investment environment and opportunities in Bangladesh and US businessmen and investors will present their investment proposals to Bangladesh. Through this, a connection will be created between the businessmen of the two countries.


On September 23, the Prime Minister will address the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Besides, on September 24, the Prime Minister will attend a civic reception organized by the United States Awami League and address the Bangladeshi diaspora.
