Prime Minister's Last Tribute to Queen Elizabeth
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid her last respects to Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. On Sunday, he paid tribute to the late Queen, who was laid to rest in Westminster Hall's mortuary, and signed a book of condolence at Lancaster House.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina arrived in London, United Kingdom to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on September 15.
Saida Muna Tasnim, High Commissioner of Bangladesh appointed to the United Kingdom, said that the Prime Minister went to the Westminster Palace with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana to pay her last respects to the late Queen in the morning. A minute's silence was held to pay their last respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was preserved in the mortuary in the Hall of the Palace.
Earlier, the Bangladeshi Prime Minister and her younger sister were welcomed by the British Speaker's representative on their arrival at Westminster Palace. They were later taken to Lancaster House, where a book of mourning was opened. There, Sheikh Hasina wrote a condolence message in Bengali.
The Prime Minister wrote, I offer my deepest condolences on behalf of the people of Bangladesh, my family and my younger sister Sheikh Rehana.
The Prime Minister was then taken to another room, where he paid his respects to the Queen in front of the television.
UK Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Vicky Ford welcomed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Lancaster House. While there, the Prime Minister recalled that he had met the late Rani 8-9 times and the Rani knew him by name. "The Queen was a mother figure to me," he told the UK's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. I lost someone like my mother. It seems that a guardian is gone. Rani was a world guardian. His death left a void. He will always be in our hearts.
