Ukraine claimed on Friday that it had found at least 10 torture centers in the eastern part of Kharkiv, which it recaptured from Russia. The news agency AFP reported this information in a report.

Ukrainian police chief Igor Klymenko told a briefing that 10 torture centers had been found in the Kharkiv region.

He also claimed that two torture centers were found in the northeastern city of Balaklia.

Meanwhile, authorities have discovered a mass grave of more than 440 bodies in the eastern Ukrainian city of Izyam, which was retaken from Russia.

A spokesperson of the country's regional police confirmed this information on Thursday.

Serhii Balvinov, the chief investigating officer of the Kharkiv region, told Sky News that forensic tests will be carried out on each body recovered. It is one of the largest mass graves ever found.

He also said that after verification, it was found that some people died due to bullet wounds. And some people were killed due to air strikes. Thousands of Russian troops fled Izium last week.

President Volodymyr Zelensky blamed Russia and compared the discovery to what happened in Buchta, on the outskirts of the capital Kiev, in the early stages of an offensive by Russian forces in late February.

"We want the world to know what is really going on and what the Russian occupation is leading to," he said.
