Death toll rises to 5 in petrol pump blast

1 more person named Vidyut Hossain (25) died in the explosion at Dafadar petrol pump in Bheramara, Kushtia. With this, the death toll in the explosion has increased to 5.



He died at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in the capital on Tuesday at 12:05 PM. He was admitted there on August 13 at 4:30 am. 17 percent of his body was burnt.


Vidyut Hossain is the son of Billal Hossain of Parankhali village of Bheramara upazila.


Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bheramara Police Station Mojibur Rahman said that one more person died in the Dafadar petrol pump explosion. He died on Tuesday night while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital. With this, the death toll rose to 5.

 

On August 12, an explosion took place at the Dafadar filling station in Mahishadora area of ​​Bheramara upazila around 7:30 pm. Shahajul (35), son of Shahajuddin of Dighalkandi village of Daulatpur Upazila, and Vijay (16), son of Tauhidul Islam of the same area, were killed on the spot. Rajiv Uddin (25) and Rimon (14) died in the same hospital the next day on August 13 at around 12 o'clock in the morning. Bidyut Hossain was battling death with 17 percent of his body burnt. He also died on Tuesday at 12:05 PM while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital.


The Dafadar filling station remains closed since the blast. It was not possible to contact anyone, including the owner of the pump, Jewel Hasan.
