Countries that are using Bangabandhu satellite
Satellite is one of the inventions of modern civilization. The use of satellites is increasing day by day in the world. At the same time, Bangladesh also set a milestone by launching the country's first satellite for space research and development of satellite technology.
Although there has been a lot of discussion and criticism about the use of the satellite from its inception to its aftermath, various organizations at home and abroad have started the practical implementation of this satellite. As a result, Bangladesh has started to benefit.
The Bangabandhu-1 satellite is a state-of-the-art geostationary communications satellite based on the Spacebar-4000B-1 satellite model technology developed by Thales Eleanor, a French based space research institute. At present, 42 government and private TV channels and radios in Bangladesh are using the satellite to the fullest.

Besides, several state-owned organizations including Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Bangladesh Atomic Research Institute, Bangladesh Meteorological Agency have been using Bangabandhu-1 satellite. Akash, a private DTH service provider, owns five frequencies of the satellite, which seeks to expand DTH business in Bangladesh and neighboring countries.
Not only civilian agencies, Bangladesh's paramilitary organization BGB has started using Bangabandhu-1 satellite for their border monitor management and communication. In remote areas where Border Guard Bangladesh is not able to communicate with their BOPs by telecommunication, this satellite has made the medium of communication more secure and easy. Among the military forces, the Bangladesh Army and Navy have been integrated with the Bangabandhu-1 satellite system which has made their information exchange more secure.

Wherever land or sea, the military forces are able to communicate more securely on their own channels through the Haq Bangabandhu-1 satellite. Which has further improved the internal security of the country. As a result of the use of its own satellites, the scope of communication of the Bangladesh Army has increased to a large extent. After India, Bangladesh is the only country in South Asia that is able to build its own communication system inside and outside the country using Bangabandhu-1 satellite.
Not only local companies but also media organizations of Bangladesh and some other countries of the world are currently using transponders rented from Bangabandhu-1 satellite. Notably,
1) Honduras - 2 private TV channels.
2) Turkey - 1 private TV channel.
3) Philippines - 1 private TV channel (another contract has been signed).
4) Ghana - 2 TV channels (waiting for another broadcast).
5) Cameroon - 1 private TV channel.
6) South Africa - 2 online based TV channels.
Since the launch of the satellite, 11 companies from 6 countries have signed contracts to use the satellite. In addition, an agreement has been signed with Thaicom 4 and Bangabandhu-1 satellites sent by Thailand to provide services through Bangabandhu-1 satellite in areas where there is no Thai satellite coverage. Bangladesh will earn huge amount of foreign exchange from these foreign companies. Besides, it will be possible to save huge foreign exchange as domestic media companies use Bangabandhu-1 satellite.
According to Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited, Bangladesh will be able to raise operating costs starting from the launch of this satellite in the next nine years.
