The case statement states that on Monday morning, 100-120 unidentified leaders and activists, including 5 BNP leaders, entered the office room of Upazila Election Officer Nazrul Islam. At one stage, Municipal BNP President Khalid Hasan Uthan asked the Upazila Election Officer why they were not being evaluated and why they were not doing what they were told. At this time, they started abusing the Election Officer in foul language, accusing him of implementing the Awami League agenda. At one stage, they got angry and beat up the Upazila Election Officer and took away his phone. From the beginning of this incident, the scanning operator of Gopalpur Upazila Election Office, Suman Rana, had been recording the video on his mobile phone. Upon realizing the matter, the BNP leaders and activists slapped, kicked and punched Suman Rana indiscriminately and took away his mobile phone.
