1 thousand 319 people have been arrested till Sunday (four days) in the special operation of the police which started from Thursday across the country. During this time, two thousand 226 operations were conducted.
Two guns, several knives, knives, chapatis and ramadas were recovered during the operation. Besides, 25 thousand 137 pieces of yaba and 200 kg of ganja are among the recovered drugs.
Police Headquarters AIG (Media) Manjur Rahman told Jugantar this information on Monday evening.
Meanwhile, 279 people have been arrested in one day in the ongoing special operation of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). They were arrested from Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner of DMP Media Center Farooq Hossain said that many of the arrested are accused under arrest warrant. Apart from this, they have been arrested for involvement in various crimes including explosives, sabotage, drugs, convicts, armed terrorists, thieves, robbers. A case has been filed against the arrested in the concerned police station.
According to the police headquarters, special operations will be conducted across the country till December 15 in view of the abduction of two militants from police custody in the court premises and to ensure the safety and smoothness of the Great Victory Day, Christmas and Thirteenth Night celebrations. DIGs, unit heads and SPs of all police departments have been instructed to conduct this operation.
As part of the special operation, the police are setting up checkpoints at various points in the capital, searching private vehicles and suspect persons. Apart from this, raids are also going on in residential hotels, messes, community centers and institutions. Accused of various cases including explosives and sabotage are being arrested. A number of BNP activists are also among those arrested. There are also various criminal cases against them.
