According to the information, the Metrorail Exhibition and Information Center (MEIC) has been constructed at the Uttara Depot area of MRT Line-6 to educate the public about Metrorail. Mockups of metro trains, 2 sets of mini metro trains capable of moving automatically to give the public a clear idea of metro train travel in line with the original metro train sets, ticket vending machines (MVTs) for automatic and manual collection of tickets from metro stations, i-ticket office machines ( TOM), smart card based entry and exit gates have been installed at MEIC in line with metro stations.
Installation of display boards with pictorial representations of passenger dos and don'ts and videos, animated cartoons and ticket collection procedures are also in place inside Metrorail and at Metrorail stations.
Meanwhile, citing a press release of Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project, PID said that the government has taken a special initiative to visit MEIC for students. 50 students per batch can visit MEIC. No student is required to pay entry fee for this. However, the identity card of the educational institution being studied must be shown. Transportation of students to MEIC should be arranged by the concerned educational institution.
MEIC inspection schedule is Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM. In between, there will be a break for prayers and lunch from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM. Sunday will be closed weekly.
